My grandfather worked this land with his hands to create food and life. Why is fortune minerals even being put up for vote? are there not enough examples of how things like this are just plain wrong. How many other provinces and territories turned them down already? I found 8. Why would we allow this? why would be allow our resources to die and get used up so a company can line there pockets with cash and give us nothing back in the end. These are things that need to be addressed, these are my concerns as a human, as a citizen, as a lover of this province. Dont let us be walked on. I want this included in the Councillors correspondence. “

    There’s so much info out there as to why not to allow our land to be stripped of it’s minerals. Fortune want the gold , gypsum, bismuth and others. What will they leave us ? They will ship over Ore from their NWT site by rail to the Processing Plant. So we get the garbage nobody else wants. Then They’ll Build Holding Ponds Or Containers That Are Supposed To Be Safe ? Yeah right . Fortune wants to develop a hydrometallurgical plant in Saskatchewan to process NICO concentrates to high value metal products.
    I was just watching a documentary on mining called- THE HOLE STORY. A 2011 Canadian made documentary.
    Filmmakers dig deep into a discussion about Corp ate greed, public health and environmental disasters in this expose’ of the Canadian mining industry. Here’s the kicker Fortune is apart of NICO .
    It show the land and the mess left behind. If something happens the people are told to go in doors and close their windows. Really that’s it!

    TOXIC POLLUTANTS- Millions of gallons of toxic, caustic and acidic liquid waste would be stored I 5 “ponds” on the site. SOLID WASTE INCLUDING gypsum, scorodite ( and arsenic compound), sulfate, heavy metals and Actinolite ( a type of abesto) would be put into 8 cells covering about 150 acres. WIND WOULD BLOW TOXIC DUST from the OPENED WASTE CELLS for the life of the plant. SULFUR- CONTAINING COMPOUNDS combine with air and water to form sulfuric acid, causing ” acid mine drainage”, an environmentally destructive process that accelerates contamination and leaching.

    We can’t allow this to happen to us, to our land and families. This is not something that can be cleaned up with a sponge. There is way to many toxic waste in rivers and on land already and it’s killing resources. Our crops won’t grow on this land. The land will be toxic for Hundreds of years. You can’t use it as pasture or crops. It’s dead useless soil and contaminated with arsenic which kills. If some one came into the country with arsenic, they’d be called a terrorists and be dealt with!. But this company is buying up land 480 acres out our back door and telling us and our elected people that they are dumping poison . Enviromental disaster in the making! We’re supposed to sit back and let this happen! No Way! We lonely have until December 6th to get this out and send as many emails as we can to stop this. The Ministryof Enviroment has the ability to stop this with one word NO! And it’s done. That’s all this take, that’s all that is required. At least 6 other communities have stopped this from happening . Let’s stand up for ours. Let’s show Fortune and other toxic dumping companies to take a hike. They have destroyed so much land and plants, animals and Families already. No more sickness No more deaths by false promises of safety.
